Review: Please avoid this firm at all costs. Awful, unprofessional solicitors. Very, very unprofessional staff members. I contacted them in January regarding bringing a case against the police. I spoke to Abigail Maryland who is apparently a “legal advisor”. I told her the details. She told she thought I had a strong case. That she wanted to start it ASAP. When she asked me at the end of the call if I had anything to add. I said that I thought the police were racist and discriminatory towards me because I’m white non minority. Abigail said that she didn’t think this was the case. That I no longer had a case. I felt that she was giving me her personal not professional opinion. She seemed very incompetent and not knowledgeable in this area of law. Angry with her unprofessional behaviour and attitude towards me. I was abusive towards her. Then I put the phone down on her. Later on I received an email from Kasey Hamer. I asked her if Abigail was going to be reprimanded for her unprofessional behaviour and attitude. I also said that she needs better knowledge of the law. As I wasn’t sure Abigail Martland is even qualified in law. I asked Kasey Hamer several times if I could complain. She avoided answering my questions. Of course she did. Then she said they’d send me a complaint form. The thing they actually sent me was a pamphlet on their complaints procedures. No where on that was there any names or details of anyone to contact regarding a complaint. I then told Kasey that I’d find the names of who to complain to myself. Because she’s been uncooperative as well. Unfortunately for her. Her name would he added to the complaint. I found the names of all the partners online. I sent a damning and very serious email of complaint to them. Maria Chadwick replied. Saying that and I quote “she takes matter like that very seriously” “she’d investigate my complaints for me”. Maria Chadwick didn’t do this properly or in a professional manner. She then sent me a very confusing and unprofessional letter of reply. Where she just contradicted herself. The content was professional but her personal opinion. So naturally I replied corrected everything she’d said that was wrong. I also quoted the law back to her. She also didn’t seem to knowledgeable about. Despite being a partner in a law firm. I couldn’t actually believe this women had qualified and passed the bar. I was more shocked when received this reply that she was one of the partners. She seemed to defend Abigail in the letter. Rather than defending me as the person who had been given the incorrect advice and had received very bad service from her staff members. Naturally I wasn’t accepting this as I felt it was morally wrong and unfair on me. I requested to speak to Maria regarding this issue after this. I was refused and she asked her PA Pauline Ware to reply to me via email. Then another member of staff Caroline McCann emailed me. Stating that Maria Chadwick was refusing to talk to me. I did seriously lose my temper at this point. As you can understand. I didn’t like being treated like this. All I wanted was for them to give me the advice as I’m morally and legally entitled to. I don’t like being fobbed off, messed about. Lied too and ignored. In the letter Maria Chadwick admitted to me that they don’t give out complaint forms. So why was I told before this that they’d send me a complaint form? She also admitted to me that they were discriminating against me because I’m non minority. Because of this and the fact that I was very abusive towards them. Then I left a few negative comments about them on Facebook. They reported me to the police. This happened months ago. The police turned up at my property on Sunday afternoon. I’d forgotten about this and was getting on with my life. So I’ve had to be voluntarily interviewed regarding this matter. It could take up to six months for the police to make their decision. Because of the actions of various staff at Stephenson’s towards me initially. I could be being charged with harassment and malicious communication. The crux of this situation was caused by them not me. If they’d have just given me the professional advice I was entitled to in the first place. If their staff were not unprofessional towards members of the public. If they’d not ignored my requests to complain. This situation would have never escalated and we wouldn’t be where we are now. Ninety five percent of this of them and their behaviour towards me in the first place. Five percent of this is my natural and justified reaction to that. There was mitigated circumstances for my behaviour and there was provocation by them towards me. I feel my reply was perfectly justified. I didn’t just bombard them with abuse for no apparent reason. Incidents had happened previously. They let this build up. They allowed it to escalate.
